When the citizens of the Czech Republic decided to join the European Union in a national referendum in 2003, we gained many of the benefits that come with membership. On the other hand, however, we also voluntarily undertook to respect the legislation issued by the European Union. Thus, the legislation issued in our country now forms only part of the Czech legal order, and ignorance of EU legislation certainly does not pay off.
